Major Function
Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority- PEIRA regulates all matters related to functioning of private educational institutions- PEIs operating in Islamabad CapitaI Territory- ICT and imparting education up to Grade XII/ higher secondary level or equivalent. In order to ensure quality, transparency and discipline in an educational setup, PEIRA performs following functions:
For PEIs
To determine and enforce minimum quality standards that are mandatory for an educational institution, PEIRA grants a registration certificate to the institution. These quality standards are consistently maintained through the yearly renewal of registration.
For Parents / Students
To ensure the provision of quality education in the ICT region, it is essential to adhere to the minimum standards laid out by the Authority. This includes determining the appropriate fees to be charged by PE1s, which should be commensurate with the academic quality of the institution and the on-campus educational services and facilities available to the students. Additionally, it is important to address academic concerns and complaints for redress in accordance with the established policy.
For Teaching Professionals
Ensure that qualified and professional teachers are provided to impart education in a private setup and guarantee favorable conditions for teachers' services. PEIRA is the sole regulatory authority that works towards the Continuous Professional Development of Teachers in the private sector by promoting teaching innovations. This is because we firmly believe that a teacher's role is fundamental in the grooming of a student. Only a well-conversant and trained teacher can ensure student learning outcomes (SLOs).
