Why register with PEIRA?

A statutory requirement for operating a private educational institution- PEI in Islamabad Capital Territory- ICT

Any PEI seekingaffiliation with FBISE or any other regional international board or examining body, requires to get registered with PEIRA, as per law. After inspection of an applicant PEI vis-a-vis required minimum quality standards. PEIRA assesses the strengths and shortcomings of a PEI. Based on inspection reports.

• Institutions meeting the minimum standards of PEIRA are appreciated and encouraged to maintain and improve their standards to ensure that quality education is being imparted to the students.

• Institutions with shortcomings are periodically advised to overcome their deficiencies and guidelines are shared with each institution. We determine fee to be charged by PEls In commensuration of academic quality of an institution and on-campus educational facilities available to the students.

Aims and Objectives

Through the execution of its functions enunciated in its Act, PEIRA regulates, registers, and ensures minimum quality standards in private educational institutions up to the higher secondary level or equivalents, with the aim to:

  • Inspire lifelong learning among students
  • Improve the teaching and learning environment.
  • Develop the professional capacity of teachers.

Mandate of PEIRA

PEIRA's mandate includes the determination, maintenance, and improvement of standards in private sector educational setups. As stated in Section 5 of the 'Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions (Registration and Regulation) Act 2013,' all private sector educational institutions operating in the jurisdiction of Islamabad Capital Territory (up to the higher secondary level or equivalent) fall under the regulatory domain of PEIRA."
