Teachers’ Training for the Purpose of Continuous Professional Development

The quality of teachers’ professional skills a has direct correlation with learning experience of students. In recognition of private educational institutions (as partners in increasing access to education whilst improving quality of education in ICT) PEIRA has designed a Capacity Building Program for the academic staff of PEIs operating in ICT. CBP of PEIRA specifically relates to the aims and objectives stated in section 4 (e) of ICT PEIRA Act, 2013. PEIRA’s strategy to address quality related issues in PEIs will help Pakistan achieving education-related Sustainable Development Goals such as to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning”.

Pool of Resource Persons:

A pool of resource persons is being developed by ICT- PEIRA (from eminent experts/ seasoned professionals)- based on their subject-related knowledge, experience to conduct related activities and excellent communication abilities).

Launching of First-Ever Training Program for the Academic Staff of Private Educational Institutions in ICT

In recognition of private educational institutions (as partners in increasing access to education whilst improving quality of education in ICT) PEIRA launched a first-ever training program for the academic staff working in PEIs, at the newly established Resource Center- RC by PEIRA. The event was attended by the academic staff of private schools and representatives from leading educational institutions and international organizations including the Turkish Maarif Foundation whereon the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training- Mr. Shafqat Mehmood Deputy inaugurated the purpose-built Resource Centre at ICT- PEIRA’s premises. While addressing the session, the Minister said that Pakistan is facing challenges with regards to increasing access to quality education due to undermining of the potential of private sector schooling by previous regimes. He stressed that potential of private educational institutions as key partners in increasing access to education needs to be acknowledged. In order to utilize its potential for the first time, the current government has decided to build capacity of low-fee PEIs operating in the jurisdiction of ICT. He further stated that revamping of ICT- PEIRA is a part of current government’s campaign to provide for improvement in quality of education, especially to make ICT a model region from educational perspective.
